Kansas City Apartment Living: October 2018
Welcome to this month's edition of Kansas City Apartment Living, brought to you by Kinsley Forest, our apartments for rent in Kansas City, Missouri. This month we're bringing our residents suggestions for celebrating Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and National Cookie Month, topics surrounding upcoming holidays like National Taco Day and National Cat Day, and movies you might want to check out this month like First Man, Hunter Killer, The Darkest Minds, and Unfriended: Dark Web. Read on to learn more about these topics in today's blog post.
Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
Visit a local dog shelter to celebrate Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! Shelter dogs are in need of a caring and loving home, so if you’re looking for a dog, skip the breeders and adopt! You’ll not only get a good dog, but you’ll also give the pup a place to call home. Adopting from a shelter also helps prevent pet overpopulation. Should you choose to adopt, always prioritize giving them the love and care they deserve!
National Cookie Month
How do you plan to celebrate National Cookie Month? We suggest trying out some new cookie recipes to sate your sweet tooth. October is a great month to bake up some cookies for yourself or as a gift for your friends! Whether you’ve made some or bought some from the store, cookies always go great with milk. If you’re lactose intolerant, almond milk works well, too!
National Taco Day
Who doesn’t enjoy tacos? National Taco Day is October 4th, so use it as an excuse to get yourself some delicious tacos! Head to Taco Republic for some fish tacos or make some at home from scratch! We love how easy they are to make, enjoy, and share with friends. Don’t miss out on the delicious dish that is believed to have their origins in the mines of Mexico!
National Cat Day
National Cat Day is on October 29th this year! If you have a furry feline friend, it’s a good month to pamper them more than you usually do. Some ways you can pamper your kitty are by buying them new toys, creating a cozy spot for them to sit, or by grooming them well. If you don’t have a cat, you can celebrate National Cat Day by donating some blankets, toys, and food to the local shelter!
Looking for some weekend plans? We suggest going to see First Man in theaters Friday, October 12th. Astronaut Neil Armstrong embarks on a historic and dangerous mission to the moon in 1969. Have you already bought your tickets to see First Man? Check it out this weekend!
We also suggest going to see Hunter Killer this month. It comes out in theaters on Friday, October 26th. Deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler, Olympus Has Fallen, 300) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII. Are you excited to watch Hunter Killer? Buy your tickets today for a great weekend.
Looking for a new movie to see this month? Rent The Darkest Minds. It comes out on DVD on Tuesday, October 30th. When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are seen as a threat by the government and sent to detainment camps. Sixteen-year-old Ruby soon escapes from her captors and joins other runaways who are seeking a safe haven. Banded together and on the run, they soon combine their collective powers to fight the adults who tried to take away their future. We think The Darkest Minds is a must-see. Rent it from a nearby Redbox today!
Do you have any weekend plans? Stay in and rent Unfriended: Dark Web on DVD. It's released on Tuesday, October 16th. A teenager finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop and soon discovers that the previous owner is watching every move he makes. Are you planning a movie night?
